Different systems and clients may label the same feature as “Add subscription,” “Import from link,” or “Add via URL.” Button placement can also change between versions, but the sequence stays the same: get the subscription link, import it, update the configuration, choose a route, and connect.
Create an account: Set up login credentials
Start in the MaoVPN user panel. Open the Start Free page to see the account creation form. Choose a username you plan to keep using and set a password that is not reused on other sites. No email address is required, so before submitting, check that the username and password are correct without waiting for an additional email confirmation.
After a successful submission, the page will open the user panel or ask you to sign in with the credentials you just created. Do not start looking for a client yet, and do not store your username, password, or later subscription link in a public document. Use a trusted password manager to keep your credentials secure, since you may need to return to the user panel for the latest subscription details when changing devices or reinstalling a client.
If the username is already taken, choose another recognizable name that does not include publicly identifying information and submit again. If the page says the passwords do not match, return to the relevant fields and check them again. Once the account is created, choose a plan in the same user panel. There is no need to handle client installation or route selection yet; this avoids repeatedly checking an empty configuration before the subscription is active.
Choose a plan: Order based on actual usage
After signing in, open the Plans page in the user panel. You will see monthly subscriptions and data packages. Choose based on how you expect to use the service, not just the data allowance. For regular access to international websites, remote work, or frequent route changes, consider a monthly subscription. If usage is occasional and you want to keep the data for later, review the lifetime, non-expiring packages that remain available until used.
Monthly subscriptions come in three tiers: ¥9.9/month with 60GB, ¥18/month with 250GB, and ¥28/month with 500GB. Monthly data resets each month on the activation date; when upgrading mid-cycle, the price difference is prorated over the remaining days. Data packages are ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, and ¥658/3000GB. They remain available until used and never expire. All plans support unlimited devices, but each subscription should still be managed carefully by the account holder. Avoid sharing the link publicly.
Once you have chosen a plan, use the neutral action button on its card to open the order confirmation page. Check the plan name, data allowance, and amount again, then choose an available payment method: Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT. After payment, do not create the same order again; return to Account Overview first and check whether the subscription status has updated. If you are new to the service, you can also read the refund information on the Plans page; the standard policy is a 30-day no-questions-asked refund.
If you are still unsure whether to choose a monthly subscription or a data package, open the full plan details to compare reset rules, upgrade rules, and use cases. This guide does not cover usage-estimation models, keeping the setup path focused. Once the order shows as active, open Account Overview to get the subscription link.
Get the subscription: Copy it from Account Overview
Once the plan is active, open Account Overview. In the subscription section, confirm that the current plan is active, then look for an option such as Copy subscription or Import into client. The subscription link contains the credentials clients need to retrieve route configuration, so it is not an ordinary webpage address. Copy it only into your own compatible client; never post it in chat groups, screenshots, tutorial comments, or public code repositories.
After clicking Copy, the system writes the complete link to your clipboard. To illustrate the format, this clearly fake value is only an example: https://example.com/sub?token=YOUR_TOKEN. It cannot connect to MaoVPN and contains no real credentials. In practice, always use the link currently shown in the user panel. This page does not provide a static subscription address or ask you to assemble a domain, path, or parameters manually.
Some clients open automatically after you click the import option in the panel; others require manual pasting. Either way, first confirm that the client came from the access point provided in the user panel and matches your current system. If the system asks you to choose an app, select the compatible client you just installed. If nothing opens automatically, return to the client and use “Import from link.”
There is no need to keep opening the link after copying it to test it. Opening a subscription address directly in a browser may show configuration text or trigger a download; that does not indicate whether the client imported it correctly. The useful checks are whether the client can add the subscription, whether an update reveals the route list, and whether you can select a route and connect.
Import into a client: Configure by platform
Before starting this stage, you should have an active plan, a subscription link you can copy, and a compatible client for your system. Menus differ by platform, but the core actions are identical: open subscription management, choose the option to add via link, paste the content copied from Account Overview, save it, run one update, and choose a target region from the new route list. The sections below cover only entry points and sequence, not protocol parameters or routing rules.
Windows: Import from subscription management
After opening the Windows client, check the main window, sidebar, or tray menu for “Subscriptions,” “Configuration,” or “Profiles.” Open the relevant page and choose Import from link, then paste the complete content copied from Account Overview into the URL field. You can name it MaoVPN for easy identification, then save and click Update. Once the update finishes, available regions will appear where the route selector was empty. Select a route, return to the main screen, and enable the system proxy or connection switch.
If the button is still unavailable after pasting, check whether extra spaces were added at the beginning or end of the link. Do not delete or edit characters in the middle. If the client reports an invalid configuration format, copy the link again from Account Overview instead of changing the parameters yourself. Windows may show background and tray states separately, so before closing the main window, confirm whether the client is minimized to the tray or has exited.
macOS: Add a remote configuration
In the macOS client, open configuration or subscription management and look for “Add remote configuration,” “Import from URL,” or a similarly named option. Paste the subscription link, save it, and allow the client to complete its first update. Some clients put route selection in the menu bar icon rather than the main window. When the update is finished, click the menu bar icon, confirm that the region list is available, then choose the route you need and start the connection.
When macOS creates a VPN configuration for the first time, it may ask for permission. This is a standard operating-system step for creating a network connection. Confirm that the request comes from the client you just opened, then follow the system prompt. If the connection does not take effect, check whether the client also requires enhanced mode, a system proxy, or VPN mode. Enable only the default method recommended by that client and avoid stacking multiple network tools for now.
Android: Add a subscription via link
After opening the Android client, look on the home screen, in configuration management, or on the subscription page for “Import from clipboard” or “Import from URL.” Choose one, confirm that the field contains the complete link copied from Account Overview, then save and update. When the route list appears, choose a region that matches the target service’s requirements, return to the home screen, and tap Connect.
The first connection may display a VPN authorization dialog. The client cannot create the network tunnel until you confirm it. If the connection stops soon after switching to another app, check the system’s background and battery-saving settings for the client and allow it to remain active while in use. Do not run multiple apps with VPN functionality at the same time; the system usually keeps only one active connection, and the later app may replace the earlier one.
iOS: Import and confirm the system configuration
First, check the client access point in the user panel to confirm the supported method for iOS, then open the subscription or configuration page in a compatible client. Choose Add via URL, paste the subscription link, and save it. If the user panel provides an import option that opens the client, you can use it and continue from the app chooser shown by the system. After a successful update, the client will show a route list; choose the required region and return to the connection screen.
The first connection on iOS requires confirmation to add a VPN configuration. After confirming in the system dialog, return to the client and check the connection status. If the subscription is saved but no routes appear, use Update or Refresh on the subscription page. Deleting and adding the subscription again should be a later step, since repeatedly rebuilding the configuration can make it unclear which entry is currently in use.

Connection verification: Confirm the route is active
After the client updates the subscription, choose a region from the route list that matches the target website’s requirements, then connect. Do not judge the result by the button color alone; wait for the client to clearly show that the connection is complete or active. Then open a new browser page and visit the target website. Check that it loads normally, the login session remains active, and any feature requiring sustained data transfer works reliably.
If the target service still reports a regional mismatch, disconnect, switch to another route in the same target region, and connect again. Your browser may retain an old session and regional information, so after switching routes, close the original page and reopen the target website. For AI Tools, Streaming, and work platforms, the account region, browser session, and current exit region can all affect the result; refreshing alone may not trigger a new regional check.
If webpages will not open at all after connecting, troubleshoot in the shortest order: confirm that the subscription is still active, return to the client and update it once, check that the system clock is accurate, and make sure another VPN connection is not occupying the system tunnel. Then choose a route again. If a route is temporarily unsuitable for the current network, switching to another region or route type is usually more direct than repeatedly restarting the client.
After verification, you can add the working route to the client’s favorites, but avoid relying on one route permanently. Target regions and network paths vary by service, so choose according to the task. When you need to temporarily return to a direct local connection, click Disconnect in the client and confirm that the VPN indicator has disappeared from the system or menu bar. Force-quitting the client may leave some system proxy settings unrecovered.
After setup
- The client has saved the MaoVPN subscription and can update the route list manually.
- A route matching the target service’s regional requirements has been selected, and the client shows the connection as complete.
- A newly opened browser page can access the target website normally.
- You know how to disconnect, switch routes, and return to Account Overview to copy the subscription again.
